Peruvian pink opals are known for being the most intensely saturated, uniformly colored pink opals available. These opals are milky pink and range in hue from cotton candy to bubblegum. Natural inclusions frequently display other colors such as white, black, peach and yellow. These can add character and intrigue to the stones. In ancient Egypt, the pink opal was referred to as the “Hope Stone,” and pharaohs wore crowns made out of them for good luck on conquests. Indigenous tribes in the Americas worshiped pink opals and used them to commune with deities and spirits.
